Marvellous March

29th March 2017

March has been another really busy but exciting month for the Academy.  It started with the fantastic news that a record number of Year 6 parents have chosen Manor Croft Academy as their first choice school for September 2017.  This is a clear indication that we are moving in the right direction and parents can see that we have strong and effective leaders who are improving the Academy.

World Book Day/Literacy

On Thursday 2nd March Manor Croft celebrated literacy with a day of book related activities including a spelling bee during form time.  Staff discarded their usual work clothes for the day and dressed up as characters from well-known books!  Other English based activities have included a visit to West Yorkshire Playhouse to see a modern production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.  We have also hosted a theatre production group who put on fantastic performances of Macbeth and Jekyll and Hyde to support Year 11 with their literature exam.

I am really pleased to share with you the fantastic news that our attendance is now above the national average of 95%.  Many thanks for your continued support with this.

Year 11

Our students in their final year at the Academy continue to amaze us with their commitment and drive to succeed.  Attendance for Year 11 is at a record high and students continue to improve in English, Maths and Science mocks.  There has been a relentless push on improving coursework/projects in technology and attendance at interventions across the curriculum has been fantastic.

Uniform for 2017/18

I will be writing to you very shortly with the details of the new uniform for 2017/18.  It is only a very minor change and we will be providing the new school tie!
