Principal's Blog - April 2018

16th April 2018

As we approach the exam season the sun has finally begun to shine. I just wanted to look back at some of the recent events and share with you some of the exciting news moving forward.

Admissions for Year 7 in September 2018

I am pleased to share with you the news that we have had a record number of applications to join the Academy. We now have a waiting list which is a reflection of how far the Academy has come over the last few years in terms of our amazing GCSE results and most recent Ofsted inspection. We very much look forward to welcoming our new students.

Careers Week

A big thank you to Mr Nikoumaram and his team for running a very successful careers week. There were a number of activities designed to raise awareness of careers in the Yorkshire region. Hundreds of students have been photographed stating their preferred career choice and these have been displayed around school. We are really pleased with the support that we are getting from Careers Inc.  Any student who needs a careers appointment should speak to Mrs Jones in the library.

Year 11

Our Year 11 students continue to prepare for the summer exams and have been in over the Easter period busily revising and completing coursework.  They are a fantastic year group and amaze us everyday with their commitment and attitude.  We wish them the very best of luck in the summer.

Year 11 also enjoyed a fantastic rewards day at Xscape. Only after they had attended crucial maths and English sessions though!

Ski Trip

This year's ski trip saw 43 students and 6 members of staff travel to Montgenevre in France.  Blessed with wonderful skiing conditions the students, a mixture of beginners, intermediates and advanced all made fabulous progress having the opportunity of not only skiing in the French area but also crossing over the boarder into Italy.

We are already booked in again for next year to Saalbach in Austria.

Battlefields Trip

We are pleased to share that there will be a history department trip to the battlefields in France and Belgium in 2019 for those studying GCSE History.  We are sure that this will be a fantastic educational visit.

Attendance & Alton Towers

Attendance last term was fantastic and lots of students will be visiting Alton Towers as a reward.  Many thanks to carers and parents for your continued support.
