Exam Success

5th September 2016

Manor Croft Students have been celebrating their exam results as they leave the Academy and take their next steps in education, employment and apprenticeships.

66% of our students achieved an A* - C grade in English and 42% achieved A*-C in Mathematics. 96% of students achieved 5 or more A* - G grades or equivalent. Many of our subjects improved their A*- C% including English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, French, PE, Art, Textiles and Resistant Materials.

From this year all schools are now measured by the progress their students make using the new “Progress 8” measure rather than the old attainment measure of 5 x A*-C including Maths and English. This is calculated across a broad range of subjects; a value of “0” demonstrates that students have made the expected level of progress based on their prior level of attainment from their primary education.

Our current Year 11 students have achieved a Progress 8 score of -0.21 (this means that on average our students didn’t meet the national average). This is disappointing but does take the Academy above the new floor target of -0.5.

We will be working tirelessly in 2016/17 to ensure that this figure exceeds the national expectation.
