Our First Enrichment Day

11th November 2014

Friday saw our first Enrichment Day of the year that was very much focused around students knowing how to keep themselves safe and understanding the consequences of their actions.

It was a vibrant day and we were delighted by the many external speakers and facilitators who delivered workshops to the students. The activities ranged from looking at Bullying by creating a 'play in a day'; working with 'Prison Me No Way' to understand the law and significant consequences of breaking it; sex & relationship education; developing positive relationships and avoiding risky behaviours . All of our visitors were very complimentary about the students and the mature way in which they approached the day.The next of these Enrichment Days will take place in the New Year as part of our on-going SMSC and Safeguarding programme.

I was also delighted to welcome parents to our Anti Bullying workshop recently. Whilst there was only of small group of us we had a really interesting discussion about what we can all do to eradicate bullying in the school and wider community. It was agreed by all that it would be useful to run this again in the New Year so that  more parents can attend, so watch this space!

On another matter of Parent/Carers events,  you will have received a letter from me last week inviting anyone to our Academy Parent 'Drop In' surgery on Thursday from 4 to 5 pm. This is a chance for you to come and talk to a member of the Senior Leadership Team about any queries you may have. As with all surgeries you do not need an appointment , but you might have to wait... but don't worry tea and biscuits will be available. I look forward to seeing you there.
