Principal's Blog - September 2018

12th September 2018

Welcome back to the new school year and a special welcome to all our new Year 7 students and parents, what an amazing start to the new school year we have had!  Our results in the summer were simply amazing, the Year 11’s who have left have done themselves proud and have achieved amazing outcomes:

The results were: 83% of students achieved a 4+ in English and Maths and 64% of students achieved the new strong pass grade 5 in English and Maths.  This puts the school as the top non-selective school in Kirklees Local Authority and also one of the best in the whole of Yorkshire.

We also believe that when the national data is released we will be one of the top performing schools nationally, we look forward to sharing that with you very soon.

Can I thank all parents and carers for supporting our continued drive to improve standards around uniform.  The students have returned after the summer break and look fabulous.  I appreciate that the uniform has been awkward for some parents to obtain but the vast majority of you have managed it and the academy is benefiting from this now.  We will continue to drive standards forward as the academy starts to grow.

In a few weeks (Thursday 20th September) we have our open evening for the new intake of 2019, any parents of Year 6 or Year 5 students can attend and take a look at what we are doing and chat to any of our staff and students.

As always the new extra curriculum calendar will be available soon, please take a look at this and encourage your child to join in and enjoy all the academy can offer.

Can I also thank Miss Nicoll and Mr Ward for organising a highly successful careers day on the last week of the summer term, all students took part in a range of activities that made them think about their life after Manor Croft.  In the same week we also enjoyed some glorious sunshine for our sports day which was won by 7MG, 8TW, 9CS and 10JD.

Once again I hope you have enjoyed a great and relaxing summer and are as ready as we are to achieve even higher outcomes than ever before at Manor Croft Academy, I look forward to working with you for the rest of the year.
