  • Road Safety Assemblies

    The fire service were in school this week delivering hard hitting assemblies on road safety to students in Years 7 to 10.  They also carried out a demonstration on how they cut passengers out of a car that has been involved in a road traffic accident.

  • Ofsted praise for Manor Croft's Leadership

    MANOR Croft Academy has been judged ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding Leadership’ following their recent Ofsted inspection.

    Inspectors found that strong leadership has led to better teaching, much improved behaviour and higher achievement for pupils.

    Ofsted praised the principal and his leadership team, saying that “decisive actions have led to exceptionally
    rapid improvement”.

  • Attendance October Challenge

    As part of our ongoing attendance initiatives, Monday will see us roll out our October Challenge to all forms.  Every form who has 97% or above attendance throughout the month of October will be able to have a non-uniform day in November!  This means that each form needs to work together to ensure that their form attendance is above 97% FOR THE WHOLE OF OCTOBER - Monday 2nd October right up until Friday 20th October.  Only those forms who have 97% during this period will be eligable to participate in the no

  • Rewards Assembly Start for New Year 11

    Our new Year 11 had their first rewards assembly this week to celebrate their fantastic results from their first real GCSE in Year 10.  They have already achieved some great results which will give them confidence as they start Year 11.  We also celebrated some excellent science mock results where we had a number of students hitting the new grade 9!

  • Celebrating Outstanding GCSE Results

    Manor Croft Academy students and staff are celebrating today what is likely to be one of the largest improvements in GCSE outcomes in the country!

    Principal, Andy Barnett said, the number of students achieving passes in both maths and English has risen from 40% to 68%.  This is a 28% increase in one year and staff, students and parents are now reaping the rewards of a year of transformational change and hard work.  These huge increases are also reflected across other areas.   • Archery Attendance Rewards Event

    20th July 2017

    On Thursday 20th July a select group of students who had achieved 100% attendance throughout the current academic year were treated to a professionally led archery session.  Mr Paul Wattam from the Chickenley Scout Group led three sessions for students in Years 7, 8 and 9.  Students thoroughly enjoyed it and obtained some high scores considering it was, for the large majority, their first experience of archery! Well done to all!

  • Careers Day

    18th July 2017

    On Tuesday 18th July, Year 10 students worked with National and International businesses to prepare for the competitive world of work.  They completed a rigourous assessment centre before being put through a competancy based interview, detailed feedback was given.  The day ended with students presenting to 'Dragons' and being grilled over their business ideas.  All the organisations involved will be back next year to complete a follow up programme with the students involved.  

  • Sports Day 2017

    18th July 2017

    The sun was shining on another successful Manor Croft Academy Sports Day.  Forms in Years 7, 8 and 9 competed in Football, Netball, Benchball, Badminton and Rounders in the morning and athletic events and a tug of war in the afternoon.  The theme this year was countries and the staff and students did not disappoint!  The winners on the day were… 7MHA, 8TRE and 9JYO.  Congratulations to everyone who took part in a fantastic day!

  • Summer Holidays

    The Academy closes for the summer holiday on Friday 21st July 2017 at 12.15 pm.  Monday 24th July and Tuesday 25th July will be disaggregated Inset Days.  The Academy will re-open to students on Tuesday 5th September 2017.

    On Thursday 13th July the Head Boy, Head Girl and Mrs Frizzell visited the new Dewsbury Learning Quarter site on Bradford Road.  This site will be called the Springfield Centre for the brand new Kirklees College campus in Dewsbury, which is due to open in September 2018.  There will also be another new site called the Pioneer Campus which is situated in the old Pioneer House.  The students from Manor Croft visited the site to meet Dawn Turner and executives from the Construction Company Kier.  It was an inv

    The first annual MCA Sport Personality of the Year Awards were a huge success.  Over 230 students, staff, parents and carers attended the evening event to celebrate the hard work, commitment and sporting success over the 2016 -17 sporting season.  The evening went off without a hitch and even had fantastic musical performances from many of the students.  The winners on the night were… Y7 Zak Y and Cody-Lou M, Y8 Lucy-Mae C and Taylor B, Y9 Ellie W and Stan K, Y10 Emily W and Jack B.  The overall winners wer

  • Bushcraft 2017

    On Sunday 9th July to Tuesday 11th July 52 intrepid explorers and three members of staff from Manor Croft took part in the third annual Bushcraft Experience.  They spent three days surviving in the woods at Cholmondely Castle in Cheshire learning bush and camp craft skills.  Students were taught by experienced Bushcraft professionals how to make shelters, light safe fires, make animal traps and provide first aid in a mock disaster situation.  The trip was a resounding success again and even the weather stay

  • Dewsbury Big Sing!

    On 10th July Manor Croft hosted the second Dewsbury Big Sing which saw 9 local schools in North Kirklees perform vocal and instrumental pieces in front of a packed audience.  The event was organised by Musica and Jennifer Issacs who was amazed at the 175 students who gave up their free time to rehearse and perform at the event.  Amongst the performers were the MCA Rock School who were amazing and performed two songs.  Well done to all involved!

  • Year 10 Maths Results and Information Evening

    On Monday, 3rd July, we hosted a Maths Results and Information evening for our Year 10 students and their parents/carers.  Important information was given out regarding the new Maths GCSE and students received their results from the recent mock exams.  Awards were also given out to students that had made the most progress in their exams since the previous mock.  Overall it was a great turnout and a really informative evening for all who attended.
