  • Rewards Event - Magic Time!

    21st March 2014

On Thursday 20th March over 350 Manor Croft Academy students experienced a unique reward event.

Sam Fitton kindly agreed to shun the corporate hospitality circuit so he could inspire our students into a career that may not be on their usual ‘maybe I could do’ list. With the art of distraction Sam managed to stun the audience into silence, time and time again.

The presentation highlighted to our students that making a career out of something you love is certainly possible!

  • Year 11 Kirklees Basketball Champions!

    20th February 2014

Last night the Year 11 basketball team representing Manor Croft Academy made history. For the first time in the ten years that the Kirklees basketball competition has been running, a North Kirklees school has beaten a team from the South.

Having secured the North Kirklees league the week before, the final was set to be a great showdown. Just getting to the final was a huge task. The students had been participating in a league of ten teams playing weekly, in order to see who came out on top.

    The final was a ve

  • Road safety and Luke Potter

    24th January 2014

Today the Year 8 and Year 9 students were treated to an event that combined road safety with an up and coming singer called Luke Potter.

Luke has been touring the country, introducing his songs to the next generation. In addition to his UK tour he has recently returned from America where he has signed to the same management team as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

The event was a mixture of live music, road safety facts and a game show pitching the girls against the boys. We would like to extend our than

  • Head Boy and Head Girl results are in...

    22nd January 2014

This year has seen a change in how the students have a voice within school. Running up to Christmas, students had the opportunity of putting themselves forward for the school council.

Over 100 students applied for the posts and the successful applicants have formed four focus groups within school. The four areas under consideration mirror the Assistant Principal roles for Teaching & Learning, Community & Transition, Achievement and Wellbeing.

The final task has been to wait and see which Year 11 students woul

  • Zoo Lab - Reward Event

    20th January 2014

On Friday the students were rewarded to a hand’s on lecture delivered by Zoo Lab. The aim of the event was to reward our students for their fantastic efforts over the previous half term. Over three hundred of the students had the opportunity to hold, or see up close, giant millipedes, giant snails, snakes, tarantula’s, crabs and a bunny rabbit for those who prefer their animals to be a little fluffier.

The students had a fantastic time with many of them experiencing these animals for the first time. A spec

  • Goodbye Mr Tonner...

    20th December 2013

Manor Croft Academy, and especially every student that was blessed to have Mr Tonner as their headmaster, wish him all the best for his retirement.

The students who have been taught by Mr Tonner over the past few years expressed their thanks with messages and pictures that were converted into a memory book. The student gesture was presented to him yesterday afternoon at his retirement party. The Earlsheaton area has lost a true gentleman, one that has had a huge impact on many of our families here at Manor C

  • Student Leadership under way...

    20th December 2013

Today was the inaugural Student Leader meeting for Manor Croft Academy. The session was chaired by two of our Prefects. The girls steered the discussion in a cool and inclusive manner, portraying traits that a seasoned director could only wish to have.

The meeting was a fact finding mission to establish where the school is in terms of student needs. The debate progressed to include what vision these young leaders had for their own school and how they envisage it can be achieved.

Next year is going to be a gre

  • Staff Christmas Panto.....

    20th December 2013

The last day of term was to remember for the students at Manor Croft Academy.

The 20th December 2013 will go down in history as the first ever staff panto. The talent put forward for Cinderella was questionable, yet we strode on to embarrass ourselves for the benefit of the children.

What a performance it was to behold. After weeks of sporadic rehearsals, Miss Lyons tearing her hair out and what turned out to be a pointless prop the staff called a script, the pantomime was delivered.

    We hope all the studen

  • School Christmas Concert

    20th December 2013

Thursday night was an amazing event for all those parents and students that took part. The night was filled with student demonstrations from the various Performing Arts clubs that are available at the school. The hour and a half performance included no less than 15 acts ranging throughout our age groups.

The initial presentation was by Miss Graham who introduced work completed by her GCSE and Key Stage 3 students. All the work had been completed under her guidance during art sessions within and after school.

  • Transition Thursday gets underway...!

    5th December 2013

Tonight was the first night for Transition Thursday's. The Maths department has started the ball rolling with a 3 week murder mystery investigation. Pupils from Chickenley, Eastborough and Bywell Junior Schools have been working in teams to try and identify the murderous potential of an array of suspects.

The three week project will build students investigative skills through code breaking, team work and means of deduction.

Transition Thursday's are organised by Miss Bigland, Manor Croft Academy's Transition
