On the 21st November, we hosted our first careers day of this academic year. This was a huge day for our Year 11 students as they all completed their college applications making their choices for the next steps in their education and careers. We invited guests from all the local colleges such as Greenhead College, Heckmondwike Sixth Form, Elliott Hudson and also from other providers such as the Royal Airforce and Northern Rail. Students from Years 9-11 were all given opportunities to discuss career options to obtain advice and guidance from our visitors. It proved to be such a valuable experience for our students who following from the careers fair had a more definite purpose as to the direction they were heading. Students in Years 7-10 were also off timetable all day to receive careers guidance from each of our faculty areas. Across technology, they rebranded the famous Roald Dahl inspired chocolatier Willy Wonka, learning about the various jobs and careers involved in marketing, advertising and product design. It was a highly successful day enjoyed by all students but more importantly, it allowed them to focus on their future.
