Plastic Free Friday

From this Friday Manor Croft are going ‘plastic free’ every Friday to raise awareness of the serious issue of plastics in the ocean.  In assemblies this week students have been encouraged to bring water bottles in and refill them at our many refilling hydration stations around the academy.  This will not only save them money but will also reduce the amount of single use plastics we discard, we have also increased the number of plastic recycling bins around the academy so students can recycle any plastics they have.  We have been working with our catering provider too and they are also going ‘plastic free’ every Friday to support our initiative.

As parents you could consider what you send your children to school with on Fridays to reduce the single use plastics they have in their bags – this could be water bottles, food packaging and carrier bags.  Although we may not save the plight of all the world’s oceans from our efforts at Manor Croft all 48 Academies across the Trust are joining in this initiative so together we can make a big difference!
