  • Kirklees Youth Council trip to Westminster

    On Wednesday 8th March members of the Manor Croft Student Leader Council travelled to London as part of the Kirklees Youth Council to take a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. The trip was organised by Michelle Ross, Kirklees Youth Council Chair, and was a great success involving numerous high schools from north and south Kirklees.     On Thursday 9th March 2017, 80 Year 8 students had the incredible opportunity to go to the West Yorkshire Playhouse to see a modern production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.  Shakespeare’s classic story has been transformed into a vibrant new production, providing students with an opportunity to access one of Shakespeare’s classic plays, exploring teenage love and violence which is transformed in a vibrant new production set against an epic northern landscape.  The students went to see this classic play

  • World Book Day 2017

    2nd March 2017

    Manor Croft Academy celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March 2017 with a day of book related activities including a spelling bee during form time.  Staff discarded their usual work clothes for the day and dressed up as characters from well-known books.  From 'The Wizard of Oz' to 'Diary of a Wimpey Kid', the staff catered for everyone's literary tastes.

    We are delighted that a record number of parents have chosen Manor Croft Academy as their first choice school for September 2017.  If you have received an offer of a place at Manor Croft Academy from Kirklees LA you do not need to do anything else at this time.  We look forward to welcoming you to the academy and will contact you shortly about admission arrangements, including your child’s start date.  We are committed to providing a full school uniform to all Year 7 students in September 2017 free of charg

  • Year 11 Geography Revision Skills Workshop

    On Saturday 11th February Kate Stewart, Delta Academies Trust Director of Humanities, arranged for a small number of Year 11 Geography students to take part in a revision skills workshop at De Warenne Academy in Conisborough, Doncaster.  The workshop was aimed at improving outcomes in the forthcoming examinations and our students worked alongside young people and staff from other Delta Academies.

  • Year 8 Leeds University Trip

    9th February 2017

    On Wednesday 8th February Mrs Robinson and a small team of staff supervised students on a trip to Leeds University.  The trip was aimed at more able students and was designed to encourage post 16 education and college admissions.  The students were treated to a guided tour of the university’s facilities, student union, gym, lecture halls, library and halls of residence. 

  • Edge Hill University

    9th February 2017

    25 students from Year 11 enjoyed a trip to Edge Hill University this week, where they spent the morning working with University students currently training to be Maths teachers.  Lots of fun activities had been planned by the student teachers; mathematical treasure hunts, finding the volume and area of shapes as well as planning a dinner party using ratio.  Year 11 were then treated to a free lunch by the University and given a tour of the campus by student ambassadors.  It was a great day out and we look f

  • 3D Model of the Earth - Year 7

    The 3D model of the Earth was built by Joe in Year7 as part of the Electro-magnetism Unit in Science.  It shows not only the magnetic field lines that protect the Earth from the Solar winds.  It also shows the structure of the Earth, as it is this structure that creates the magnetic field that we all take for granted.  Deep in the Earth there is a solid Inner Core of  IronNickel (In black in Joe's model) that spins inside an ocean of molten Iron/Nickel(in red) called the Outer Core.  It is this movement tha

    On Tuesday 8th February Manor Croft Academy will be helping raise awareness of the importance of staying safe on the internet.  Students will be involved in activities during tutorial sessions on Tuesday 8th February to alert them to the risks and dangers of social networking sites and how to create safe profiles when using them.  Mr Audsley will be leading a series of assemblies for all year groups on the importance of using webcams safely.   • Pie and Peas Evening a great success!

    Year 11 shared the opening of their recent maths mock results with their parents/carers on Thursday evening.  They were given prizes depending on how sizeable their improvements were.  Most students have made amazing progress from the start of year 11.  Some students had improved by up to 70 marks from their previous mock result.  It was great to see so many parents/carers attend to share in their success, after the presentation everybody enjoyed tucking into some pie and peas.  Thanks Miss Barton and the m

  • Well Done Year 11

    27th January 2017

    Year 11 have worked tremendously hard this week attending intervention and one to one tutoring. They have also sat 3 full Maths mock exam papers and early indications suggest that there has been fantastic progress made from the November mock.  Students were treated to doughnuts in assembly in recognition of their hard work.  Maths results will be given out at the Pies and Peas evening on Thursday next week.

     

  • Success in Science!

    This week, Mr Nikoumaram delivered an assembly to praise the incredible progress that Year 11 students have made in Science since their last mock exams in November.  The most recent mock exams have seen a big leap forward and it is clear that everyone's hard work is paying off.  Around 60 students per week have been attending bespoke science revision sessions on a Friday at 2.30pm and this is clearly having a significant impact on results.  Well done to all the students and lets support them in keeping it g

    On Thursday 2nd February the Maths team will be hosting a ‘Pie & Peas’ night for all Year 11 students and their families. This will be a celebration of the hard work our students are currently undertaking within their Maths lessons and will also be an opportunity for families to ask any questions about the new Maths GCSE over an informal pie & peas meal!   • Orchard Academy Transition Sessions

    Over the last few months Year 6 pupils from The Orchard Academy have been attending Manor Croft Academy on Wednesday's to improve their ability and success in Maths and English.  This is part of Manor Croft's relentless drive to improve standards in the core areas, whilst also enabling students from one of our main feeder schools to experience life at high school, thus helping with their transition into Key Stage 3 later this year.
